If you’re an avid record collector, like getting you fingers dusty, or just want to check out some good music, you should definitely check out Northside Records on Gertrude Street.

It’s not really that big, but it holds a very select stock. The storeowner, a guy with a huge, fluffy fro, sells mainly funk, soul, reggae, hip-hop and jazz.

If you go inside, make sure you sign up to his mailing list to receive weekly updates on new records, gigs and record reviews. They also hold record releases there occasionally, with live bands playing and promoting their record.

I saw The Bamboos, Cookin’ On Three Burners and The Cactus Channel release LP’s and 45’s there, a whole lotta fun! Its on Gertrude Street where it turns into Smith.
